Entry from: Kutna Hora, Czech Republic Entry Title: "Wroclaw (Poland) to Kutna Hora (Czech Republic)" Entry: "27th June Wroclaw (Poland) to Kutna Hora (Czech Republic) Raining in Wroclaw clearing to cloudy skies in Kutna Hora 25 degrees We left rainy Wroclaw and drove into the Czech Republic as the rain cleared. The countryside is lovely, with some pretty avenues, rolling hills, farmland and huge fields of cultivated white poppies. We were surprised to be stopped by a border patrol as we entered the Czech Republic and waited while they checked our passports and those irritating car papers. All fine so onward to Kutna Hora. We arrived at our hotel where they had some difficulty finding our booking (we didn't book through our usual website) but found us a nice room. We strolled up into the old town with our trusty map and found it to be fairly quiet. Kutna Hora is a UNESCO World Heritage Listed town which started in 1142 due to silver mining in the area. We walked through the main square and up the statue lined street to the Church of St Barbara, a massive 13th Century Gothic structure with some unique gargoyles. Other interesting buildings in the town include the Stone House, the Stone Fountain, the Convent, and St James Church with its 80 metre tower. There is also the Plague Column constructed in 1713 ...
