Best Way to Depict a Parking Garage What is the best way to depict a parking garage in DProfiler? Should I avoid sculpting the Building Massing and use Features to display the ramps? It is generally recommended to avoid sculpting the Building Massing to depict complex shapes and geometry. The Building Massing should be used to establish the perimeter boundary of floor slabs (and column gridlines) along with providing a canvas for cladding to be applied to. Features may be used to accentuate the appearance of a building, add additional detail and assist in a more detailed quantity take-off when desired. The best method for depicting and constructing ramps for a parking garage is to use a combination of Structure tools, specifically: Holes [in slabs] and Slab Connector. It is best to first define the openings/holes in the elevated decks and then come back and connect ramps between the decks using the Slab Connector tool. Turning off the Building Massing layer will then present an image most people consider a parking structure.
